Wow, it's been a while

Sorry I haven't blogged in a while. I guess I don't really have a good excuse. Let me catch you up on some things that have gone on sine my last blog.
In April applied for nursing school at Baptist and got in.

In May we went to Austin to visit Becky and Paul. We had lots of fun as usual. There were also tons of birthdays and birthday parties including my nephew Elem's that we had at our house. It was fire truck party and we got a real fire truck to come and hand out hats. It was also Mindy's, Dustin's, Emma's and Jenny's birthdays.

In June I started Anatomy and Physiology I at Baptist. It was very weird going back to school for the first time in almost 10 years but once I got in the hang of it, it wasn't so bad. In fact, I made an A. My sister-in-law Mindy took it online and did great as well! In June we also had Tommy and Mandy's wedding. The whole family was in the wedding and the kids did great as ring bearer and flower girl. Also in June Cecilia started getting sick. Mainly a fever and feeling tired all of the time. She got diagnosed with Mono and Mycoplasma. We also celebrated out 6th wedding anniversary. I also decided to quit the play group I was in since Cecilia was so sick and I was so busy with school.

In July we had a fun 4th of July party at my parents pool and I also celebrated my 26th birthday. Woot! It too was by the pool. We also started going to this super nice condo on Lake Hamilton. The people that own are a nice family that Dustin has done lots of work for.

In August we went to the lake another time and let Cecilia rest. We went back and forth with the doctors because Cecilia was still sick. We didn't really get any specific answers except that she is just a "sickly" child. We also bought a BOAT! We absolutely love it. It's a red 95 Celebrity ski boat. Dustin has always wanted a boat. We had been talking about it all summer then one of our good friends told us that boat was for sale close by our house and it was a nice boat. We test drove and it was perfect. We also trusted the guy that sold it to us since our friend Josh new him. I also started back at school. I'm taking Microbiology with the same teacher I had, Dr. Mackey. I'm doing well so far.

In September we took the boat out a lot and camped a lot. The Razorbacks also started and we went tailgating in Little Rock. My best friend had her second baby Evie Lynn. We also took Cecilia and Elem to Playhouse Disney Live! and it was such a blast. The kids had fun too.

Well it's October now. We went to the lake one last time and it was sort of a disaster but we still had fun. We went to Dustin's 10 year reunion and it was fun. We still have Oktoberfest this weekend as well as Race for the Cure. Then of course Halloween. I'll post some pics from the months I just covered.

Our days

So I have a TON of catching up to do. I need less time on Facebook and more time on my blog. Priorities :)
Lots of people ask us how in the world we spend our days, so I'll tell you. Dustin and Cecilia wake me up around 6:45am and Dustin leaves. He usually has my coffee and oatmeal waiting for me so that's nice. Cecilia is on the go all the time. She immediately wants to do something or go somewhere. I usually bed her to let me finish my cup of coffee and then we are off. Either in the backyard playing or driving around Bryant somewhere. This is usually around 7:30 in the morning. Yawn! She likes to go to the Bryant airport and watch planes. We also see cows and geese on the way so that's a plus.

She loves to go to story time at the library too. We do that Monday through Friday. It's really cute and keeps her entertained for a good hour. After that she usually really worn out so she takes a nap for a good two hours or so. After she woke up on this particular day we met Daddy at Pinnacle Mountain for lunch. She had so much fun. Such a little cutie.

After finding an activity to do like Pinnacle we go to Poppa's house and play for a while. She loves her Poppa. Then Grammy will bring Elem home from daycare and they play and play and wear themselves out. We go home and see Daddy, eat dinner, take a bath and she is out!

The Super Bowl

We went over to my mom and dad's for the Super Bowl. It was very low key actually. Poor Dustin had a stomach virus and Seth, Mindy and Elem went to a friends house. So it was just me, C, Grammy and Poppa. We fixed all kinds of food, you know us Shelbys (wink wink) and had a good time. My mom bought Valentines suckers for the kids and Cecilia loved that, so did Annie :) We were wearing our red for the Cardinals but unfortunately they lost. After a little while low and behold Seth, Mindy and Elem showed up! It made Sissy so happy.

Every time Cecilia gets fussy at night her daddy loves to take out to McDonalds for ice cream. She never finishes the whole cup which is probably a good thing. So the other day she found it in the freezer then left it out to melt. She picked back up an hour later. Here she is loving it.

We went over to Grammy and Poppa's house for Grammy's birthday and had a little party. I made her a donut cake since her friends at work already had made her a cake.

Zoo day fun day, but no pictures :(

Since today was SO pretty Cecilia and I decided to go to the zoo. We got there around noon and at lunch. It was still a little cool but after an hour we definitely didn't need jackets. We saw monkeys and lots of them, bears, snakes, tigers, lions, zebras, rhinos, giraffes and lots of weird animals with weird names. Cecilia loves the zoo! She did so good. She rode in her stroller most of the time then we played at the little playground there. We also rode the train and she liked that pretty good. She really wanted to see some crocodiles (or alligators) but there weren't any. She didn't get to see any spideys (spiders) either :( I did buy her a little plastic spider and that seemed to cheer here right up. Well I took all of these super cute pictures of her and uploaded them on my computer and my computer had some error and erased them, boo! I had already erased them from my camera too. That sucks! So sorry folks, no pictures. We did have a really great time though and I have all the pics in my head :)

The Myringotomy was a success! That's ear tube surgery :)

Today we woke up at 5:30 to go get Cecilia's second set of tubes put in. Grammy and Poppa met us there at 6:45. We got called back to pre-op and went over the paper work then it was time for her to go to the OR :( She went to the nurse at first but when she was in the OR I could hear crying. Boo. It was sad but I knew they would put her to sleep in no time. We went back to the waiting room. I went to the bathroom real quick and talked to Dustin, Mom and Dad for about 4 minutes and Dr. Gardner was out of surgery. It goes SO quick! He told she did fine and that her left ear was very infected and had lots of fluid. Poor thing. She woke up this morning say "I gotta boo boo in my ear". That was her fourth ear infection in two months. So we got back to the recovery area and she was in a nurses arms lying so limp like newborn baby. The recovery is probably the hardest part. She was still for about 2 minutes she started flailing her arms every where and crying. It was so sad. She was able to leave with in about 7 minutes or so. She kept saying she wanted her Poppa. Poppa took her and we went home. Once we got home she ate a big breakfast Grammy cooked then she went wild. Seriously, I don't know what it was. She was dancing, singing, running, playing. It was so funny. I took her home and she slept for 3 hours and then wanted to go back to Grammy and Poppa's house. Elem came around 2:30 and of course she was thrilled.

I am so proud of her today. She has literally said 10-15 new words and sentences! It's unbelievable. She saw Elmo for the first time on Sesame Street and tonight she saw Elem again and said "ELMO". She has never even said that and she remembered it so well after only seeing one time.

So I really like to think she has new ears.

What a day!

Today was the 44th presidential inauguration. I am so so happy to get a fresh start. We really need it. This is a very historical inauguration and I'm glad I got to see it as well as Cecilia, even if she doesn't really remember it. I can still remember in 4th grade when President Clinton was inaugurated. My mom dressed me in a navy blue coat and we watched it all day in Mrs. Smith's class.

Cecilia and I got up this morning and put our Obama sign back in the yard and headed to story time. On our way back we listened to the beginning of it on NPR. Then I came home and put her down and watched the rest of it for hours!!! Elem and Cecilia came back to our house after playing at Grammy and Poppa's and watched the neighborhood ball. Here is some video.

Here she is still watching the ball before bed and eating some cereal. She is hoping that might be her one day...as the First Lady of course.

Finally

So I'm finally starting a blog after all these years. My sister-in-law Mindy has been begging me to do this FOREVER. Maybe this will be a good way for friends and family to keep up with us instead of going to my myspace or facebook page.

Well Cecilia is almost two years old and it's so hard to believe. This last year has been so much fun. She has got the cutest and wildest personality. Just like me, my mom says :). We've had our ups and downs with her. The downs would mostly be that she is so sick all of the time. I can't even tell you how much much we have spent on medication, co-pays and medical bills in the last year. Next Wednesday she will get her second set of tubes. The first set worked really well but one of them fell out and she immediately started to get ear infections in that ear. The doctor said he would just go ahead and replace the other one because it would likely fall out soon. Anyway, other than that Cecilia has been such a blessing to us. She makes us laugh all day long and she has SO much to say if you just listen.
